Join our keynote speaker Professor David Mabberly as well as Richard Neville, curator of the exhibition Lewin: Wild Art and author of Mr JW Lewin: Painter & Naturalist and special guest speakers as they discuss the fascinating story of Australia’s first professional artist JW Lewin. Topics will include Lewins’ influence on colonial art and how his life reflects the progress of natural history, science in the early years of settlement. This symposium will also explore what Lewins’ colonial life says about colonial society.
