Shadowed By A Roadside is the debut solo exhibition from outstanding UK photographer Simon Hewson.
With works published internationally and a distinguished award under his belt, Hewson will present a series of images that exquisitely brings to life the smaller remnants of a rural life long gone.
This is one of Hewson’s most significant series reflecting preservation, loss, the harmony of nature and perseverance, and most importantly hope, community and enduring love.
The images are taken in rural towns in New South Wales, with a strong focus on the boom‐towns and forgotten communities that have been bypassed by new, major roads and industry. Hewson’s work breathes beauty into the rusty, industrial and forgotten minutiae of these lonely towns – a ray of sunlight against a wall, discarded clothing on a dirt track and an abandoned shop are just some examples of images that are sympathetically portrayed in the series.
