CARE ambassador, and former supermodel, Christy Turlington Burns has produced the documentary No Woman, No Cry, which shares the powerful stories of at-risk pregnant women in four parts of the world. These include a remote Maasai tribe in Tanzania, a slum of Bangladesh and a prenatal clinic in the United States.
Christy suffered from a severe complication during the birth of her first child, but survived with access to medical care. After learning more about maternal health issues, Christy applied her experience and directed and produced the film to help raise awareness of global maternal health to ensure the wellbeing of mothers worldwide, for generations to come.
CARE is one of six partners in the film. The film was launched at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in April 2010 and the London Film Festival in October 2010. This is the film’s debut in Australia.
